【Daily project update】draft pcb actual side issued

Completed  a lay all components to 100x120mm. PC-Board. This side was small, components will close and track are difficult wiring. It's may clause interference between signal. Next check all components in market.

Update PCB for sdr

After revised circuit of SDR. Circuit idea from YU1LM and I improve a oscillator for using AD9850 module. Side of PCB applied for aluminum case 100 x120 mm.

And idea for Font-end may I separated box for control

Interface a headset for yeasu

I promise my friend to make a headset and foot switch. He like a contesting and he give a foot switch to me and request to build interface. Now a first design a PCB was inform to him. 

Foot swith can connect with RJ45 at font of tranceiver. The interface's design to connect headphone and external mic. The foot switch connection with paralle to the PTT pin and ground.

Hopefully my friend and his son enjoy the contesting.

SDR tranceiver

SDR for ham radio is growth to recommend in shack. I have a peaberrySDR and home-brew SDR HF receiver. Now I try do a build my own design. target is for using in VHF band that is for moon bounce experiment. 

iAPRS v2.0 new update for tracking your mobile phone.

After I updated iAPRS in my iphone.

I found new feature for tracking my Iphone and send data to openAPRS.org server. I can change add massage and disable a sleep mode for continue tracking position. Checking again two and three days  for more new feature. 

DDS with AD9850 and Basic Stamp microcontroller..(part 1)

I and my friend in group "Thailand Amateur Radio Group" will dicuss at RAST meeting in May. We talk about make DDS project. After we buy a DDS AD9850 module. We go back to a workbeanch for starting our jobs. Somebody used RasberryPi foe control, somebody use adurino and I select Basic Stamp. This for start to re-learning a basic language again (I lean at grade 1 in High school). So shall be lean step by step.

The Basic Stamp 2p24 has feature for I2C communicate to module ,16 I/O ports for connect Encoder, Buzzer etc. and include feature for LCD command.

Now I can write a program for up and down a data and output to screen. Next step make a program for control DDS.

Balun 1:1

Dipole antenna made by wire or pipe what I cut to quarter-wavelength for each side or measure a impedance at center to 50 ohm. Actual at center of antenna (Center fed) has impedance 50 ohm balanced. I must adding a Balun to convert unbalanced signal from transceiver to balanced signal to antenna.

I selected a balun 1:1 for my antenna. Balun 1:1 is suppressing current unbalance signal better than a Balun choke coil. My Balun used 14 turns of 3 wire on AM ferrite rod. Next to 6 meters each side of wire for dipole antenna.

Thank you @vk2zay for advice for selection a Balun.

Welcome to HF bands

Long waiting in a intermediate license. Now I upgraded a license from beginner to intermediate class in Thailand.
Difference for beginner class and Intermediate class are extended for using in HF bands and at HF bands I does a transmitting at 200W power.

It's OK. Let's see my callsign in the air.

Using MorseRunner for waiting intermediate License

After I upgraded to intermediate license in Thailand. But we will waiting a certificate for intermediate class.
The certificate will be use for get a ID for intermediate class. Now is very long time!

 

For a waiting time. I can try a Morse code with another Hams. A software for Morse code is Morserunner.

Check Daily HAP Charts

When we need to check what High frequency for Dxing at hourly. We can check data on Hourly Area Prediction or HAP. This data made by Australian Government in IPS radio and Space Services. example I need check in Bangkok to communication and see the color chart to see a recommended frequency for communication.

Beacon station project

I will start to build a beacon at my station. My locator is OK03fu. First step I make a beacon key to switch a signal board. Now some problem of this board about a burn MCU 16F627. Check problem again. What happen?

May a Intermediate licence complete and met a packet radio

Last weekend I gone to examination for get a intermediate licence. So I think it pass 80% and waiting a certificate of exam soon. In examination include a Morse test. My skill is bad but can be pass a test. a 8 wpm is as speed of received Morse code and 5 wpm for transmitted. My bad for transmitted a Morse code but it's OK. Next will be improve my skill.

After examination we have met a packet radio in school or university. a presenter is Mr.Miroslav Skoric. he talking about a kid interest down for amateur radio. he introduce a amateur digital communication to connect between school to school, university to university. because a amateur radio is free compare with internet. My opinion is right if a university use amateur radio to connect a communicability but in Thailand I think a little know to be can use that.

มาต่อกัน สำหรับการใช้งานเจ้าDVB-T dongle มาทำ SDR. หลังจากที่เราได่รับของมาแล้ว ก็แล้วแต่เราว่าสั่งของมาเป็นรุ่นไหน

ตอนนี้ที่ผมสั่ง ที่แรกก็งงนิดๆ เพราะของที่ได้มา ไม่บอกรุ่น หรือยี้หอ แต่ทางคนขายบอกว่าใช้ได้

เป็นความโชคดีบนโชคร้ายที่เจ้าโน๊ตบุค สำหรับใช้เล่นวิทยุสมัครเล่นของผมเกิดอาการ ฮาร์ดดิสพังขึ้นมา จึงได้จัดการใส่ฮาร์ดดิสใหม่ พร้อมลงโปรแกรมใหม่ ซึ่งก็จะได้ลงโปรแกรมเฉพาะSDR ก่อน

มาถึงตอนนี้ก็เป็นขั้นตอนการลงโปรแกรมที่จะใช้DVB-T dongleกัน เริ่มจากการไปดาวโหลดโปรแกรมUSRPอินเตอร์เฟส จาก ExtIO_USRP+FCD+RTL2832+BorIP-BETA_Setup.zip

เมื่อโหลดเสร็จแล้ว ทำการinstall ในส่วนของหน้า Select components to install เราต้องเลือกโปรแกรมHDSDRเพิ่ม(สำหรับคนที่ยังไม่ได้ลงอะไรเลย)

ถึงตอนนี้ก็จัดการลงทุกอย่างตามสเต๊ปไป แต่สำหรับผมในขั้นตอนที่โปรแกรมZadigขึ้นมา ผมได้ข้ามไปก่อนเพื่อที่จะโหลดlibrtl2832++.dllมาลงใหม่ก่อน

ส่วนเรื่องการตั้งค่าก่อนใช้งานมีหยิบย่อย ไว้ค่อยมาเล่าให้ฟังล่ะกัน

มีคนแนะนำให้ผมเขียนเรื่องนี้ป็นแบบ ภาษาไทย ก็เลยลองมาเขียนเล่าให้ดู
เมื่อเดือนที่แล้วผมได้รับทวิต จาก @SDR_news เป็นขอความซึ่งบอกไว้ว่า ทำSDR ด้วยราคา ๒๐ ดอลล่าร์ หรือประมาณ ๖๐๐กว่าบาท ผมก็เลยสนใจ ในลิงค ก็นำผมไปสู่ วีดีโอในยูทูปที่ชื่อว่า "$20 ultra-cheap Software Defined Radio with RTL2832". ก็เขาบอกรายละเอียดของตัว DVB_T ที่จะมาทำ SDR

ซึงดูจากคลิปแล้วก็ไม่ยากอะไร ผมก็เลยสั่งเจ้าตัวDVB_T dongles มาลองดูเจ้าตัวDVB_T นี้เป็นแบบUSB ซึงเป็นแบบไหนใช้ได้ ก็ต้องไปดูใน RTL-SDR Compalibility list ซึ่งมีคนทดสอบ(แต่บนLinux)และลงขอมูลไว้ ในReddit.com ก็พออ้างอิงได้พอสมควร http://www.reddit.com/r/RTLSDR/comments/s6ddo/rtlsdr_compatibility_list_v2_work_in_progress/ ซิ่งในรายละเอียดที่เข้าใจก็สำหรับเจ้าDVB_T ที่ทดลอง จะใช้IC RLT2832U และIC ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็น Tunner สองรุ่นคือ E4000 กับ FC0012 หรือ FC0013 ซึ่ง ผมก็ได้ไปสั่งเป็น Digital TV Tuner DVB-T MPEG4 Realtek RTL2832U / E4000 Radio SDR P160

ผมสั่งใช้เวลาประมาณสองอาทิตย์ ก็ได้ของ ราคาก็ ๓๓ ดอลล่าร์ ก็ ๙๐๐ กว่าบาท

ตอนนี้เท่าที่ทราบคือมีสองแบบคือบนระบบวินโดว์ จะเป็นการใช้ ExtIO plugin เป็นการใ้ช USRPs อินเตอร์เฟส และอีกอันเป็น RTL_SDRเป็นGNU_RADIOซอร์ฟแวร์บนลีนุกค์ ตอนนี้ได้ของมาขอลองที่บนวินโดว์ก่อน

SDR by DVB-T usb dougles

Last month I received a twit from following @SDR_News about a cheap $20 SDR. Information show in youtube by balint256 "$20 ultra-cheap Software Defined Radio with RTL2832". The youtube inform download software at http://spench.net/r/USRP_Interface. I doing following in this page and complete install and run. First time with sample rate 2Mbps in setting ExIO_USRP. It can't change frequency when run it. Now I running at ~0.9Mbps but reduce a bandwidth for monitor, So it OK for performance. Next improve station for support.

Try using spot cluster on Iphone

Normally I use a spot-cluster by connect with Hyperlink Terminal software or Ham Radio Deluxe. But sometime I will go outside my station and make contact in portable. If I'm not keep a laptop in portable station I can connect cluster by Iphone.

First find a software in AppStore for connect by telnet. I found many software. So I select "Pie-VT100 emulator"

After installed, open its then add server name. A server can find on internet (example ; http://www.ng3k.com/misc/cluster.html)

Next connect to server. Display indicated for log in. Up to server display may difference.

Final type "help" for check command for using cluster. Example when I spot some station I type "DX callsign frequency comment" I can report spot to server.

Ballon lunch in Thailand

Three weekend ago a small group in Ham radio (TAMSAT- Thailand Amateur Satellite) lunch the balloon at Ayuthaya province. Balloon is a nickname "Ton nan nan" mean long delay lunch. It's fun.
Balloon is a project name "Multipurpose Stratosphere Balloon for Amateur Radio of Thailand" or "MSBAT" a balloon add a simplex repeater, APRS, camera and sstv. Before take off a SSTV was problem we do removed. Final can be take off to attitude around 29km (not sure). Next fight may be March.
